Rochdale assistant boss David Flitcroft dedicated the team's 4-0 win at Chester to manager Keith Hill, who missed the game through virus.Adam Le Fondre fired Dale ahead and after Chester had Kevin Ellison sent off for violent conduct on the half hour, Paul Butler scored an own-goal.
Tom Kennedy's solo effort put Dale on cruise control and, after Laurence Wilson's professional foul earned him a red card, Adam Rundle rifled home.
Flitcroft, said: "This result is for Keith. He is our leader and it is a performance that he would have been proud of.
"It is a great result for us. The test of any team's promotion credentials is to come away from home against a struggling team and win. We knew that Chester would fight and scrap for everything but we have done brilliantly here.
"These lads have got a real desire and don't want to stop at two goals when they could have four."
