Marseille coach Eric Gerets hailed Djibril Cisse's recent goalscoring heroics as "extraordinary" after netting a hat-trick in his last game.Cisse endured a difficult first half of the season and came close to quitting the Mediterranean club as he struggled to secure a place in the first team.
But he has been given game time with Mamadou Niang away at the African Nations Cup and has rediscovered his form.
In the past week, he followed a brace against Valenciennes with a hat-trick against Caen on Saturday and is now targeting 20 goals for the campaign.
Gerets is full of praise for the way the France striker has dealt with his problems, saying: "What he has just done is extraordinary. It's an example for everyone.
"Since the start of the year, he has changed physically. And he has taken into account that he knows how to do more than run quickly and shoot hard.
"Now he realises that it is necessary to hold the ball up for the team, present the ball, play a one-two.
"He is doing things you demand of a striker."
Cisse hopes to be in the France squad named by Raymond Domenech on Thursday for the international friendly against Spain next week.
