AC Milan moved up to sixth in Serie A on Wednesday night after a battling 1-0 win away to struggling Reggina.Carlo Ancelotti's side have struggled domestically this season and needed to win to boost their UEFA Champions League qualification hopes.

In gritty fashion, the Rossoneri did just that courtesy of Italy international Alberto Gilardino's 17th-minute goal.

Gilardino collected a pass from Andrea Pirlo before dispatching his shot beyond Reggina goalkeeper Andrea Campagnolo.
