The Fir Park pitch was fit to play in the morning however Motherwell have called the precautionary inspection as heavy rain is expected during the afternoon and evening.

Several matches at Fir Park have been called off due to the weather recently and Gretna, who have been tenants at the ground this season, opted to move Monday's Scottish Cup replay against Morton to Queen of the South's Palmerston Park.

If the game goes ahead, Greek star Georgios Samaras could make his Celtic debut after signing on loan until the end of the season from Manchester City.

Paul Hartley has recovered from the knock he received in the 1-0 victory at Falkirk on Sunday.

But Andreas Hinkel may miss out again as he bids to recover from a thigh strain.

Motherwell will be without defender Jim Paterson - the left-back will complete his two-match league suspension following the postponement of last weekend's game against Inverness.

Manager Mark McGhee has an otherwise full squad from which to choose.
