20:00 - Free agent Levan Tskitishvili is training with Birmingham and could join on a short-term basis. The Georgia midfielder was released by Panionios and could stay at St Andrews until the summer.

"Levan is training with us because we are very short in that department(midfield). We are trying to do some kind of deal there to add to the midfield," Alex McLeish said.

19:08 - DEAL! Ickle winger Wayne Routledge joins Aston Villa from Tottenham for £1.5 million. The former Crystal Palace and England Under-21 man had spent time on loan at Fulham since joining Spurs in 2005. He was injured most of the time he was at White Hart Lane but now gets the chance to be made to feel ten feet tall by Martin O'Neill.

17:48 - DEAL! This could be the last one of the day goalkeeper Neil Alexander leaves Ipswich to move north of the border and pen a three-year deal with Rangers. He becomes Rangers' second signing of the day, following the arrival of Christian Dailly earlier.

17:10 - It's not just agents who are capable of spouting forth transfer tosh - Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has always been quite adept and his latest offering is no different. He claims his latest signing Ederson turned down the chance to play for two of Europe's top clubs, instead opting for the French champions. "He could have signed for Manchester [United] or Real Madrid, but he preferred OL," he said. Why?

15:48 - DEAL! West Ham defender Christian Dailly moves to Rangers until the end of the season. That's it, there really isn't anything else to add.

15:28 - DEAL! Arsenal have no intentions of stopping there either as 15-year-old striker Luke Freeman finally completes his protracted move to Arsenal from Gillingham.

14:41 - And more news from north London - Arsene Wenger must be keeping his troops happy as another Frenchman reveals he will make it a "priority" to stay with Arsenal. Mathieu Flamini may well be out of contract in the summer and currently free to talk to other clubs, but he says: "My representatives are talking with [Arsenal] and I hope everything will be good."

14:40 - Abou Diaby will remain a Gunner for the foreseeable future - at least until 2012, or until he decides he wants off in the meantime - as the midfielder has penned an extension to his contract with Arsenal.

14:01 - Most clubs might be wary of a player with a name that suggest he likes to slack off, but Middlesbrough have taken the plunge and agreed to sign 18-year-old Goran Slavkovski on loan from Internazionale until the end of the season. The Macedonian-born Swede will undergo a medical at the Riverside before being officially announced as a Boro player.

13:48 - The Ghetto Kid is on the move! Kevin-Prince Boateng looks like he'll be rapping his way to Aston Villa as Spurs accept a bid for the rarely utilised midfielder. White Hart Lane seems to be the hub of most transfer activity today. Who next?

13:31 - DEAL! Alan Hutton signs for Tottenham from Rangers to end what was rapidly becoming one of the longest transfer sagas of this window. The right-back arrives at White Hart Lane for what Rangers manager Walter Smith described as an offer they "couldn't turn down". 12:10 - Bolton midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson to Deportivo la Coruna. Realistic transfer possibility or scurrilous agent talk? You decide. Here's a quote from agent Fabio Alho to help you make up your mind: "If Deportivo are serious and want to sign Christian, that then is something we can make happen."

11:35 - Joleon Lescott's progress over the past year has been nothing short of phenomenal, so it comes as no surprise to hear that the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are after him. Neither to David Moyes, who is now keen to secure the England defender's future at Goodison Park before one of those big nasty top-four clubs make a move for the England international. Moyes says: "We'll be speaking again to him over the next month [about renewing his contract], but it won't be a problem."

11:01 - Italian daily Corrierre Dello Sport reports that Chelsea are in for Palermo's Brazilian ace Amauri. Those of you who have seen the striker in action will no doubt be licking your lips at the thought of him bringing his talent to the Premier League, although clearly those who thought up the rumour have forgotten the Blues have just signed Nicolas Anelka.

10:54 - As we write, Tottenham winger Wayne Routledge is reportedly undergoing a medical at Aston Villa. And that could mean we will be able to hammer those magical four letters (D-E-A-L) into our keyboards fairly soon. Keep your fingers crossed the youngster has not developed some kind of awful knee-knack whilst not doing anything for the past three seasons at White Hart Lane

10:36 - Newcastle take a step closer to capturing Lubos "he sounds a bit like Malouda" Kalouda as Juventus pull out of the race to sign the 20-year-old. The FC Brno midfielder's five million euro price tag proved to be a little too high for the Old Lady's tight purse strings to cope with, leaving the Toon in pole position to take him to the north-east.

10:06 - Lovable rogues, those football agents. Not according to Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson (and possibly quite a few others) who has hit out at Stewart Downing's Mr 10 percent over his role in the winger's on-off move away from the Riverside. "The fact that he appears to have put his career in the hands of Ian Elliott is a source of concern for me because I don't think that's in Stewart's best interests," Gibson said.

10:02 - Tottenham are after Real Zaragoza forward Diego Milito, according to reports in Spain. But then again, they told us Ronaldinho was going to Chelsea in the summer so you would be wise to take any transfer speculation emanating from our Iberian cousins with a hefty pinch of salt.

09:58 - Still smarting from the black eye he mysteriously picked up from just standing near Joey Barton, Ousmane Dabo is close to quitting Manchester City for the beautiful Tuscan city of Siena. The defender's chances of playing for City again are limited at best and the Serie A outfit are believed to be on hand to offer an escape route with a loan deal until the end of the season.

09:46 - This morning's papers are full of Portsmouth's interest in Jonas Gutierrez - famed for donning a Spiderman mask when celebrating goals - and the inevitable glut of spandex-suited superhero-related puns. Chortle at The Mirror's "Harry's 'Spidey' sense" and chuckle at The Sun's "Redknapp's web star" as Harry Redknapp spins an elaborate web in an attempt to catch the fly-ing (oh dear) winger for less than £7 million.

09:36 - Tying up more loose ends from yesterday - Eidur Gudjohnsen clearly knows what he likes, or more to the point, he knows what he doesn't, and that means he will be staying in Barcelona rather than moving back to Bolton. And who could blame him? Certainly not 'Ginger Mourinho', aka Bolton boss Gary Megson, who said: "Unfortunately he's at a huge football club and he wants to stay there."

09:30 - Confusion reigns this morning as TT wipes the sleep from its bleary eyes to see the big (ish) news that Daniel Cousin 's move to Fulham could be back on. How can that be? Surely both clubs claimed yesterday that FIFA had vetoed the move on the grounds that Cousin had already played for two clubs this season? Well, apparently both Rangers and Fulham were a little premature in their assessment of things. "From FIFA's side, the case is still pending. No decision has been made yet," a FIFA spokesperson said. So don't throw your hat away just yet, the Cousin marriage is back on!
