Alexander hails apprentice Brisley

Sun 30 Mar, 06:15 PM

Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander admits Shaun Brisley was cleaning boots in the home dressing room even though he scored against Accrington.Born and brought up just 400 yards from the Moss Rose stadium, Brisley, 17, has been a permanent fixture under new boss Alexander, who was full of praise for the young defender.

Alexander said: "He's been magnificent for me. He's played right back and left wing-back, and is happy to get in the team. He puts in his head where it hurts and that's why he scores goals."

But Alexander wasn't about to excuse him his apprentice duties, adding: "Of course he's sweeping the corridors, that's part of his job and he's glad to be doing it. He's got a big future in the game but he's got to start at the grassroots."
