Cheltenham manager Keith Downing paid tribute to his players after watching them extend their unbeaten run to five matches against Northampton.A clinical finish from Steven Gillespie gave the Robins the lead but midfield dynamo Giles Coke produced a late equaliser for the Cobblers.

"It would have been nice to get three points but credit to Northampton they pushed on in the second half and showed the qualities that put them around the play-off places," said Downing.

"I'm disappointed we couldn't get the elusive second goal but I am delighted with the players it's been a massive effort to turn it round in the last few weeks and put some daylight between us and the relegation zone.

Downing also paid tribute to Gillespie, adding: "It was a good finish but I'm more pleased about his fitness and strengths. I call it football league strength, and he's managing to churn it out game after game and we all know if he stays fit there's goal in him and he's proved that."
