Rochdale manager Keith Hill is now optimistic his side can make the League Two play-offs after they won 2-0 at Griffin Park against Brentford.Strikes from former Bees striker Lee Thorpe and Adam Rundle moved Dale to within a point of seventh-placed Chesterfield with eight games remaining.

"We've got a good run-in and we've given ourselves a good chance," said Hill.

"This was a hard-fought game which was about determination at times but we ground out a result thanks to the magnificent effort of the whole squad.

"It was always on the cards that Lee would score the decisive goal but this result is history now and we will push on into the play-offs if we keep showing this kind of spirit."
