Little vows to keep on fighting

Sun 30 Mar, 04:30 PM

Wrexham manager Brian Little refused to throw in the towel in the fight for survival despite watching his side slip to a 3-2 defeat at Barnet.Little's charges are now eight points adrift of safety after goals from Ismail Yakubu, Anthony Thomas and Nicky Nicolau gave Barnet their third home win on the bounce.

The League Two basement boys showed plenty of spirit in the second half with Drewe Broughton and Simon Spender on target.

But it wasn't enough leaving Little to concede Yakubu's opener in first-half stoppage-time had knocked the stuffing out of his side.

"I can't criticise the effort and commitment but we are our own worst enemies at times," said Little. "But I still believe we can win two games in a row and get out of trouble.

"I'm disappointed we haven't won. I accept that in the second half towards the end they had chances to score when we got a bit ragged but I just thought that leading up to half-time we were going well - but the goal knocked us to pieces."
