Sheridan holds 'slimmest of hopes'

Sun 30 Mar, 04:30 PM

Oldham manager John Sheridan says the injury-ravaged Latics still have hopes of achieving a top-six finish after beating Huddersfield 4-1.They only had enough players for four on the bench yet they still came up with their biggest win of the season.

Sheridan insisted: "We dominated from start to finish and should have scored six or seven.

"We have played better but the only real disappointment was giving the goal away right at the death. It would have been nice to keep a clean sheet but I am not grumbling.

"Our tempo was very good, we put them under lots of pressure and created so many chances. We showed we are a decent side and there is still the slimmest of hopes that we can sneak into the play-offs.

"While that opportunity is still there we will go for it. If we keep it going we could well be in for an exciting finish."
