Victoria Pendleton ended the track World Championships with two golds and a silver then admitted she was disappointed not to have won three golds.
The 27-year-old from Hitchin had to settle for second place in the women's keirin at the end of a week in which she had contributed two of the British team's unprecedented nine golds.
Of the three events she contested in Manchester, she will only have one to compete in at the Olympics.
"I'm really pleased I won the sprint because that's the important one, the Olympic event," she said.
"The rest is like a bonus - if you can win those they make you feel good about yourself.
"Obviously, I'm a bit disappinted with a silver medal. I've had a great run and it had to end somewhere.
"I just didn't want it to end here. I hope I haven't disappointed too many people here today who were expecting to see another union jack go up.
"Perhaps we have made it look too easy - it's not easy."
