Polaris World Aprilia rider Bradley Smith earned his second career podium finish with third in the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez in the 125cc class.
Italian Simone Corsi won the race by three seconds from Spaniard Nicolas Terol, completing an all-Aprilia podium.
Smith, 17, had won back-to-back poles in the first two grands prix of the season, but suffered a steering problem in the Qatar GP at Losail to eventually finish down the field.
However he sneaked through at Jerez to snatch a top-three finish from Stefan Bradl after an exciting duel over the final laps.
"It's a great result for today. We knew our race pace wasn't quite as good as our qualifying speed," Smith said afterwards.
"The weather seemed to change during the race as well - it started really hot but then got cooler so that may have affected things.
"I made a mistake chasing Terol and Corsi and a mistake overtaking Terol put me back.
"Once the tyres started going off I couldn't get back up with them and was left to battle with Bradl.
"I was determined to get on the podium, and after the disappointment of Qatar it was great to get a podium here."
Britain's Scott Redding finished seventh while compatriot Danny Webb failed to finish.
The victory was Corsi's second in his career and sees him top the world championship standings. He has 34 points while Bradl has 29, Terol 26 and Sergio Gadea 25.
World champion Gabor Talmacsi suffered a mechanical problem on the third lap and retired while Gadea, the winner in Qatar, slid off into the gravel.
Smith's only other podium came at Le Mans in 2007. He is eighth overall with 16 points, while Redding is seventh.
