Leon Barnett expects Tony Mowbray to be busy in this summer's transfer market - but has urged the West Brom boss to trust his current squad.Albion's 1-1 home draw with Southampton on Monday put them on the brink of a return to the Premier League, barring a 12-goal turnaround in the game between Hull City and Ipswich at Portman Road and the Baggies' trip to QPR.
The Tigers are three points adrift of Mowbray's table-topping troops, who will win the title from second-placed Stoke on Sunday if they leave Loftus Road with a victory.
The minds of Albion fans have already started drifting towards who Mowbray is going to lure to The Hawthorns this summer in readiness for battles with Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and company.
But promising centre-back Barnett, who has been one of Albion's best players in the second half of the season, believes there are plenty of players already on the club's books who can perform well in England's top tier.
He said: "The gaffer will be concentrating on trying to stay in the league and personally I want to play - and win - as many games in the Premier League as possible.
"At the start of this season, the manager brought in quite a few players, so anything could happen.
"He could buy loads of players, but I think the players we have at the moment are adequate for the Premier League.
"There are a few who left last summer, but the ones who stayed have another crack at the Premier League, which is a massive assignment for them and for young players like me.
"I don't see why a lot of them couldn't hold their own at that level and push on in the Premier League."
There are question marks over the futures of star men Zoltan Gera and Kevin Phillips, who are both out of contract at the end of this season, while the likes of Jonathan Greening, Paul Robinson, Neil Clement and Dean Kiely have experienced the top flight in previous years.
Barnett is among of host of young players itching to prove they can mix it with England's elite, though, with the likes of Chris Brunt, James Morrison, Ishmael Miller, Robert Koren and Felipe Teixeira all hoping to catch the eye.
The 22-year-old former Luton defender added in the Express and Star: "Zoltan Gera, Dean Kiely, Jonathan Greening and Kevin Phillips have all done it before. We're training week in, week out and we're working hard every day. Being promoted might help people like Kevin and Zoltan to stay because this is a club that should be in the Premier League.
"We've finally got there and hopefully we can keep the players we've got. They have both been a massive influence for us throughout the season and Kevin's record in the Championship and the Premier League is unbelievable.
"It's a massive step for players like me to look up to him."
