Lallana delight at Saints strike

Wed 30 Apr, 01:45 PM

Midfielder Adam Lallana admits that scoring his first goal for Southampton at West Brom was "the best moment of his life".The 19-year-old grabbed the opener in Monday's 1-1 draw at The Hawthornes and the goal could yet prove to be a vital one as the Saints look to climb out of the relegation zone.

Southampton are level on points with Leicester but find themselves in the drop zone on goal difference and know they must beat Sheffield United to have a chance of staying up.

Lallana told the club's website: "It was the best moment of my life when the ball went in. It was just the most fantastic feeling.

"I'm disappointed we didn't get the win we needed because I thought we battled well. It is not in our hands now but all we can do is win against Sheffield United and hope a few results go our way."
