McCarthy confident of Gibson fitness

Wed 30 Apr, 04:45 PM

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is confident midfielder Darron Gibson will be fit for Sunday's crucial Molineux showdown with Plymouth Argyle. The on-loan Manchester United man limped out of a testimonial for Darren Wrack at Walsall on Tuesday night with an ankle injury but McCarthy insists it is not a serious problem.

Seventh-placed Wanderers can still reach the play-offs if they win against the Pilgrims and results go their way and McCarthy expects Gibson to be in contention.

"Darron Gibson is all right," he told the Express & Star. "He just rocked his ankle but he says he's fine.

"Darron was only ever going to play the first half but it was important that he started the game and played.

"It was just one of things that he had to come off."
