Oldham midfielder Gary McDonald will leave the club this summer after signing a pre-contract deal with Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen.
The 26-year-old former Kilmarnock player rejected new terms from the Latics and has agreed a two-year contract at Pittodrie.
McDonald said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Oldham and was made a good offer to stay.
"However, the lure of returning to the SPL with such a great club as Aberdeen was a major factor in my decision and I can't wait for the new season to get under way."
McDonald has scored 12 goals in 91 games for Oldham, including a stunning long-range effort at Everton in the FA Cup in January that sent the Latics through to the fourth round.
