Xavier Gravelaine has dismissed speculation linking him with a managerial role at relegation-threatened Paris St Germain.
With the Parisians languishing in the Ligue 1 relegation zone, rumours have circulated suggesting Gravelaine could be drafted in alongside Valenciennes boss Antoine Kombouare to replace current PSG coach Paul Le Guen in the summer.
But Gravelaine, who enjoyed four separate spells as a player at PSG during the 1990s, distanced himself from the speculation.
"These are only rumours," he said. "I know [new PSG president] Michel Moulin, we are friends. But it isn't the news."
Le Guen has endured a difficult season at the Parc des Princes, with PSG currently sitting third from bottom in the table with just three games to play.
And Gravelaine, who was a member of the coaching set-up at Nantes when they were relegated from the top-flight last season, thinks his old club would struggle to adapt to life in the second tier.
"Preparing for Ligue 2 will be 10 times more difficult for PSG than it was for Nantes," he told French newspaper Le Parisien.
"Les Canaris [Nantes] were under permanent scrutiny, heavy favourites in each match and everybody expected things of them.
"Imagine what it will be like for PSG!"
