Premier League - Reports: Veloso in City talks

Miguel Veloso's agent has claimed Manchester City have held talks over a deal for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

Veloso was linked with a move away from Portugal in the winter transfer window, with Bolton Wanderers demonstrating an interest in his services.

But a switch failed to materialise after it was suggested Sporting would not settle for less than a fee of £15million.

However, the the 22-year-old's, agent Paulo Barbosa, has stated that affluent club City could be poised to make an offer for his signature in the summer.

Barbosa said in The Sun: "We have had some talks with Manchester City.

"I am still in contact with the clubs who were interested in January.

"There is an agreement with Sporting that he will leave this summer but we don't have an agreement with any other club about a transfer as yet.

"England is his first choice, and he already speaks good English. Everything is possible at the moment."

  1. I totally agree with #6. Why haven't any other­ teams tried to grab him. Why Manchester City only. I­ think last year some other clubs were interested in him­ but i guess nothing ever happened. If you don't­ know who he is . . . . . Youtube him to see.

  4. another great player who city will turn­ shi.t......shame too he looks really promising, he­ should go somewhere like arsenal or liverpool, two­ teams who actually need midfielders. City need a­ reliable vidic like bruiser for their back line and­ they dont have one, they should be spending thier money­ on players like skrtel or hangeland.

  7. hes one of my favourite portuguese defensive­ midfielder. Veloso is reel good, im kinda suprised dat­ Utd havent been keen on signing him. i would be a good­ replacement for scholes when retired...i wonder wat­ ferguson is going to do with van der sar when hes outta­ the game. Valdez? Casillas? and replacement for­ neville? rafael da silva of course but not good enough.­ brown cood, but hes central...what about sergio ramos­ or alves? ohh dis would be the sweet man utd line up.­

  8. Veloso is a great player and his style fits the Premier­ League. I am surprise that Man United did not­ approached Sporting to contract him. If City is­ successful with the contract Veloso will be the best­ edition to the club and take it from someone who knows­ about scouting football players. I do it for a living!
