Premiership - Manchester United in £35m Portuguese swoop

Premiership - Manchester United have spent what is believed to be 50 million euros on exciting young duo Nani and Anderson.

Portuguese media have claimed that each player will cost in the region of 25 million euros each - around £17.5 million.

Anderson (pictured), 19, joins from Porto, is a Brazil youth international, winning the award for best player in the 2005 Under-17 World Cup, and has been named in the senior Copa America squad for the summer.

He can play on the wing or as a playmaker and has spent the last two seasons at Porto after joining from Gremio - Ronaldinho's former club - after the 2005 youth tournament.

"Personal terms have been agreed and a formal announcement will take place once the necessary administrative procedures, including a medical have been completed," the Premiership club said on their website.

United have also agreed to sign Portugal international Nani, who is 20 and is a winger-cum-striker who had been interesting Spurs.

Neither player had been extensively linked to United, who are set to buy Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich, although the moves should not come as a surprise following the success of another Portuguese youngster - Cristiano Ronaldo - at Old Trafford.
