McAteer advises Davies to move on

Fri 30 May, 02:00 PM

Former Tranmere player-coach Jason McAteer believes highly-rated young winger Steve Davies would benefit from a move away from Prenton Park.Leeds have already had two bids for the 20-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, turned down and Derby are also keen to secure his services.

"Unfortunately for Tranmere I think a move away would be good," McAteer told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Not that I'm touting him to go. Maybe a move to a bigger club, maybe a Leeds, someone like that, may benefit him."

Meanwhile. Rovers have announced that they will play host to Barclays Premier League outfit Bolton on Tuesday, July 29 as part of their pre-season preparations.

Also visiting Prenton Park will be Championship side Blackpool on Saturday, August 2, while Ronnie Moore's squad will play a number of local pre-season friendlies against non-league opposition.
