McCombe to make up for Bulls pain

Fri 30 May, 07:00 PM

Defender John McCombe insists he will use the disappointment of being released from Hereford to help fire Port Vale back into League One.The 23-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Vale Park having been released by the Bulls at the end of the season following their promotion to League One.

Having made 23 league starts for the Bulls last term, McCombe was shocked by his release, however, he plans to repeat his success with Lee Sinnott's outfit.

McCombe told The Sentinel: "I was surprised to get released because I played really well in the games I played in, and a lot of other people were surprised I got released.

"Obviously I was disappointed, but it gives me the opportunity to come here and play regular football, which I didn't always do last season.

"It definitely gives me extra motivation to do well, although getting released is just one of those things that happens in football. I've got enough motivation within myself to get to where I want to be, which is a lot higher than playing in League Two."
