Wolves ace Murray in mint condition

Fri 30 May, 03:00 PM

Wolves have been boosted by the imminent return of goalkeeper Matt Murray, who missed the entire 2007/08 campaign with a serious knee injury. The highly-rated shot-stopper has targeted a return to action in time for pre-season training.

The news will come as a massive relief to boss Mick McCarthy who will now have Wayne Hennessey, Carl Ikeme and Murray fighting for the number one jersey.

"I went to see the specialist on Tuesday of last week and he was really happy with it," Murray told Wolves' official website. "They took the tiniest bit of fluid off my knee but nothing serious.

"I'll start running now and then it's just loads of plyometrics getting my spring back, and then hopefully doing a bit of handling again.

"I'd like to be involved in pre-season as much as possible and I will do some extra maintenance myself to keep the legs strong, which is what you have to do after injuries like these."
