LONDON (AFP) - French striker Louis Saha made history on Saturday when he scored the fastest ever FA Cup final goal for Everton against Chelsea at Wembley after just 25 seconds.
Former Chelsea man Roberto di Matteo had held the previous Wembley mark, having netted after 42 seconds in their 1997 win over Middlesbrough.
Bob Chatt of Aston Villa held the record for the fastest goal before the competition - which began in 1872 - moved to Wembley in 1923, having scored after 30 seconds against West Bromwich Albion in 1895 in a match played at Crystal Palace, London.
Saha had previously experienced only final heartache, having been left out when former club Newcastle, with whom he was on loan at the time, lost the 1999 final before being cup-tied when Manchester United won in 2004.
He also missed out through injury for United in 2005 and 2007, but Toffees boss David Moyes granted him his wish on Saturday by pairing him with Marouane Fellaini in the Everton forward line.

If only the MONEYMAN could still pressurize GUSS to keep watch on his team for another season, I am of the belief that Chelsea could have made it to the CL next season and also take the EPL TROPHY 2009/10. This is a true fact. I do not understand why Chelsea should be letting off good coaches when they are on their way to taking charge of good trophies that matters in Europe this day. What ever it is that has been causing this problem, I bind and cast In the Name of JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!! Secondly, I am not in support of Chelsea loosing DIDIER now, as he is and remains the king of that club till date. ATLEST, at lest this trophy has consoled we fans for this bad refereeing season that caused us the CL trophy. We could have beaten MANCHESTER UNITED 3-1. This is a true fact.
