Boa Morte back in Portugal squad

Sat 30 May, 09:36 AM

West Ham winger Luis Boa Morte has been recalled by Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz after three years out of the team.

The 31-year-old was included in a 24-man group that has a strong Premier League presence.

"It's a great pleasure to return to the national team and I will do everything I can to respond to the vote of confidence this represents," Boa Morte told www.fpf.pt.

Chelsea trio Jose Bosingwa, Ricardo Carvalho, and Deco are in, alongside Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani.

Portugal will play Estonia in a friendly on June 10.

  2. Boa Morte (Good Death in Portugese) has scored just one goal in last 3 years. Scored none in his last year at Fulham (his rate steadily declined since he scored 27 in his first year there), despite which Curbishly paid out £6m for him. Zola has been hard pressed to show faith in B-M. It's true that he contributed through ball that led to goal against Middlesborough, but such moments are rare. These days he just can't shoot straight. Hope Port'gal has got some goal scorers coz B-M aint one.

  4. Ever since he left Fulham Boa Morte has been a mediocre player at best. What are Portugal thinking?

  5. luis was weak during the season and i think the fans got to him a bit, but towards the end of the season he upped his game loads. i felt that he was thinking he was in the shop window, i hope he does well for portugal and understand that continuing the good performances he has recently been putting in for the hammers will give him future internatinal games. keep it up luis and good luck. up the hammers!!!!
