Sky's the limit for Preston pair

Sat 30 May, 11:41 AM

Preston manager Alan Irvine has backed two of his players to regain their international places when the new season begins.

Scotland duo Ross Wallace and Callum Davidson were both unable to turn out for their country in their recent B international win over Northern Ireland due to club commitments and injury respectively.

But Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Ross is in George Burley's thoughts now and if he carries on performing like he did last season, he will stay in contention for a place.

"George has continued to phone about Callum Davidson even though he was forced to withdraw from the full squad last season through injury.

"I would expect Ross is very much in the frame, as is Callum. As their club manager, I would be delighted if they all could get in. If they are playing internationals, it means they are doing a really good job for us."
