Derby boss Paul Jewell is hoping to complete the signing of Martin Albrechtsen on Monday before bringing in three or four more new players.Jewell has been busy trying to rebuild his squad since the start of the summer and he is expecting to tie up the transfer of West Brom defender Albrechtsen.
The versatile Dane was offered a new deal by the Baggies but he could not agree terms and Jewell is delighted to be bringing him in.
Jewell will then turn his focus to other targets as he accepts that fresh blood will be needed if Derby are to challenge for promotion back to the Premier League.
"We hope to complete the signing of Martin Albrechtsen today from West Brom on a Bosman," Jewell told Sky Sports News.
"I would guess there would be three or four more coming through the door as well so it's an ongoing thing.
"I know we need two or three key areas strengthened before the start of the season so that is what we are going to do."
Swansea have turned down two offers for midfielder Ferrie Bodde in what is becoming one of the Championship's transfer sagas of the summer.
The Dutchman has expressed his desire to join the Rams and Jewell is not ready to end his pursuit of the player.
"We've bid for him and been rejected a couple of times," Jewell confirmed.
"He seems keen to come to us and we admire him but whether we can do a deal remains to be seen."
Asked if his starting XI for the Championship opener against Doncaster would be very different from the side that ended last season, Jewell added: "I certainly hope so."
