Burch on the verge of Lincoln move

Mon 30 Jun, 06:15 PM

Lincoln boss Peter Jackson expects to complete a deal to sign former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Rob Burch on Tuesday.Jackson has been in the market for a goalkeeper since releasing Alan Marriott earlier this summer and 24-year-old Burch is all set to undergo a medical at Sincil Bank after agreeing a two-year deal.

Burch, who started out as a trainee at Tottenham, made three appearances for Wednesday since joining from Spurs last July and snubbed several other clubs in favour of persuing a move to the Imps.

"A bigger club in this division came in for him and it looked like he was going to join them, but I managed to persuade him to come up with his girlfriend on Friday night," Jackson told the club's official website.

"I'm just glad to say that he came up and I'm delighted that now he is travelling up tomorrow (Tuesday) to have his medical and sign.

"He's a major, major signing for me. Rob has the potential to go a long, long way but he needs to play games."
