Preston manager Alan Irvine is finally set to make his first signing of the summer with the club close to signing Aberdeen's Barry Nicholson.The midfielder, 29, is poised to undergo a medical after agreeing terms on a two-year contract with the option for a third year.

A statement on North End's official website said: "Preston North End can confirm that they will sign Scottish midfielder Barry Nicholson subject to a medical."
