Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins has shelved plans to try and sign Cheltenham striker Steve Gillespie ahead of the 2008/09 campaign.The Robins rejected a £400,000 bid for 23-year-old from an unnamed club last week and Adkins admits he is unwilling to table a higher offer for the former Liverpool trainee.

Instead, Adkins has now turned his attention to bolstering other areas of his squad before the start of the new season.

"Cheltenham have turned down a bid of £400,000 from one club and we won't be going any higher than that," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
