Serie A - De Rossi stays at Roma

Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi has extended his contract with Roma by three years until June 2012, the club said on their website.

Next season the 24-year-old will earn a gross salary of 7.2 million euros a year under the new deal, a figure which will gradually go up to 8.1 million for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns.

De Rossi, who has spent his entire career at the club, impressed in Roma's three successive second-place finishes in Serie A and was linked with a move to Manchester United last season.

He scored five goals in 34 Serie A games in the 2007/08 campaign.
