Newly-promoted Leeds Carnegie have signed fly-half Ceiron Thomas from the Scarlets on a two-year contract.
The 25-year-old, who was understudy to British and Irish Lions' stand-off Stephen Jones at Scarlets, is Leeds' sixth signing for the new Guinness Premiership season.
Thomas, who can also play full-back, made 71 appearances for the Welsh region, and appeared in the Celtic League, Heineken Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup. He scored a total 288 points, which included seven tries.
"I was very impressed with the coaching staff of Andy Key and Neil Back when I spoke to them and I knew that Leeds Carnegie was the right club for me when I heard their vision for the team and the club for the coming years," said Thomas.
Leeds have also signed prop Gareth Hardy from Western Force, second row Marco Wentzel from Leicester, wing Henry Fa'afili from Biarritz and back row Alfie To'oala from Bristol, while prop Juan Gomez has agreed a permanent deal with the club after spending the latter part of last season on loan from European Champions Leinster.
"Ceiron he will add a lot to our squad. He has experience of playing in the Magners League and the Heineken Cup and that will be vital for us in the season," said Leeds director of rugby Andy Key.
"We also have Jason Strange as a specialist senior fly half in the squad so the competition between the both will really add to our options. It was a big move for Ceiron to leave his home town club and the only team he has ever played for and we are delighted that he chose Leeds Carnegie as his new home."
Leeds open their 2009-10 Premiership campaign at home to Newcastle on the weekend of September 4-6.
