Pramac Racing rider Mika Kallio will miss the next MotoGP round at Laguna Seca in the United States due to the injury he picked up during the Dutch TT.
Finn Kallio burnt the ring finger of his left hand to the bone, losing the nail for good, after trapping it under his Ducati Desmosedici GP9.
"I was so excited to be racing at Laguna Seca, but I guess destiny wanted it to be this way," Kallio said. "It's a pity.
"We have taken this decision together with the Pramac Racing managers and I think this is probably the best solution.
"Laguna would have been a new circuit for me to learn, and with the precarious physical conditions there we thought it was too risky.
"I will look after myself in the best way possible to be in good form at the Sachsenring."
The nervous system of the finger has not been damaged. After missing the US Grand Prix on July 5, he will use an imitation skin protection on the injured finger during the following European races in Germany and Britain.
Pramac will not run a substitute rider in the States, choosing instead to concentrate on Kallio's team-mate Niccolo Canepa.
Fabiano Sterlacchini, Pramac Racing's technical director, said: "Mika's condition is better than we feared straight after the race, but notwithstanding this we preferred to give him a weekend off to recover."

All the best Mika, such a shame he fell off, he was about 6th wasn't he. I think they should ask Spies to substitute him, I don't think there's a superbike race this week and spies is a proven talent, despite my not liking him too much. Again, get well soon Mika.
Get well soon Mika!
i like mika he was doing a great job on saturday until he slid off ! get better soon x
WLF
Why concentrate on Canepa being last again?
They should bring in Chaz Davies like they did before, he was lapping Laguna Seca almost as fast as Rossi. At least he'd probably get a point or two....
Oh great, so he will have one more thing to complain about it not being "fair" for him now that he is missing a race.
