Defending champion Laura Robson continued her march through the Wimbledon girls' singles draw with a 6-3 6-2 win over Australian Sally Peers.
Robson, seeded second, needed just under an hour to ease past the Australian, three years her senior at 18. She will next face Quirine Lemoine of the Netherlands, who beat 14th seed Chanel Simmonds.
The 15-year-old Brit made a nervy start to the match, struggling through her opening service hold, but quickly found her range and overpowered Peers from the baseline.
The match went with serve until the eighth game when Robson broke with an impressive return that forced a forehand error from Peers.
The break opened the floodgates for Robson, who comfortably served out the first set with an ace down the centre of the court before breaking again in the opening game of the second set.
A second break of serve in the fifth game gave Robson added comfort and she wrapped up the win two games later with a forehand winner down the line.

Matthew B, what a pathetic idiot you are. She was the youngest player to play in the main draw at Wimbledon for 13 years. She is still 2 or 3 years younger than the serious challengers to her junior title. She clearly has the potential to dominate the women's game in years to come. Whether she realises that potential remains to be seen but to say that she "has the potential to become a top 32 player...but thats about it" is either spiteful or just plain ignorant on your part.
bespokecarpentry1: You sound like me after I have been justifiablt reamed by ralph r...really lame and judgmental. feel better soon and jump out of your high-horse saddle...Cheers. Robson is good...can't help what daddy does.
SHAY HOS A LAVALAY PAR AV LAGS
bespokecarpentry1, the chippie with a chip on the shoulder. Laura Robson and her family moved from Melbourne to Singapore when she was eighteen months old, and then to the UK when she was six years old and she started playing tennis when she was seven. I think this makes her a Brit and a hot prospect. Keep up the good work Laura
Lost in the 1st round of the REAL wimbledon, has the potential to become a top 32 player...but thats about it...still much better than the current british women...much better
Well done keep it up, take no notice of comments from some they cant help it.
yeh go laura champion 09 i can see it coming
not an abundance of comments about this game, says it all really
This girl looks impressive!
robson is australian and daddy is an oil executive, just the sort of pedigree the snobby blazers at the all england club love, no wonder they cant find a decent player
Well played Laura
