Young goalkeeper Preston Edwards is set to leave Millwall after turning down the club's offer of a new contract.

The 19-year-old's deal has been on the table since the end of last season, but the signing of John Sullivan from Brighton has signalled the end of Edwards' stay at The Den.

Millwall managing director Andy Ambler told the Southwark News: "We offered contracts to the players we wanted and most of them have signed. Preston has not and he will now be leaving the club and there will be no fee involved.

"There is no animosity with Preston, but we have gone in a different direction and we wish him all the best. Last year he had a taste of first-team football and that is what he has decided he needs."
