Arsenal have handed professional contracts to four members of their successful FA Youth Cup team, while confirming Portugal Under-21 international Amaury Bischoff is one of eight players released.
Defenders Luke Ayling (17), Craig Eastmond (18), Cedric Evina (17) and 18-year-old keeper James Shea have all been signed on by the Gunners following an impressive campaign which also saw the youngsters win the FA Premier Academy League under the guidance of former centre-half Steve Bould.
However, Bischoff will not be furthering his career at Emirates Stadium, with Rui Fonte - who had a spell on loan with Crystal Palace - also being released at the end of his contract.
Bischoff made just four Arsenal first-team appearances, all as substitute, following his move from Werder Bremen last summer - which came as the midfielder battled back to fitness after a long-standing groin injury and manager Arsene Wenger admitted was something of a "gamble".
Wenger, meanwhile, is keen to add to his squad following the arrival of Belgium defender Thomas Vermaelen.
Brazilian holding midfielder Felipe Melo has been linked with a switch from Serie A side Fiorentina.
However, the future of Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is yet to be resolved one way or another - with AC Milan continuing their interest.

is sad that wenger is still playing that miserous games on fillepe melo which has now resulted in his move now to juventus.if he continues on like this then i think the arsenal board should make up their minds, before we start going down the drain again next season
Prof prof.. do us all gunners fan a great favour and get us the following players: Brede Hangeland, David Villa, Felipe Melo, and Obagoal. We need dept at all times so that injuries may not be a reason for underperformance at any given time during this season. We have been waiting and are still waiting for the premiership title and maybe the champs league. Michael N, Lagos

Obafemi Martins is a waepon of mass destruction which Arsenal need. Go after him any investment on this chap will yield great dividend. He is fast, quick thinking and very strong. And the premiership is yours for the taking.
Segun Lagos.
C'mon Wenger, I know you've got the money, if you don't you could always sell Bendtner and Eboue for it, go buy Melo and Villa, we need some titles next season, Arsenal fans have been patient enough
Proff. Wenger, i admire Thomas Vermaelen signing and need one more defender to get rid of Young defenders within our defence for arsenal to pose good threat to other competitors in all the matches.
Moris Marachtho From Nebbi, Uganda.

Forget about the Benzema hype. He only scored 17 goals for Lyon this year, with 2 being penalties.
15 goals in 35 matches in french league is not worth 40 mil. pounds.
To give a better idea, André-pierre Gignac, the french ligue topscorer, scored 24, only 1 being a penalty.
His worth is less than 20 mil. pounds, Wenger is not stupid.
Huntelaar, on the other hand, was struggling in Real first 4 matches, then scored 8 in next 6 matches and would have scored much more if Higuain was not so extremely selfish. We could get him for 20 - 30 mil. right now.
In the midfield either Melo or Hitzlsperger and we've got a winning team.
And please get rid of Eboue and Song. Nice guys, all best to them, but just not good enough in their current roles.
Arsenal need Melo more than anything else right now. He is the perfect player to compliment the midfield already in place. Melo is first priority. Benzema second and Villa is out of the question. His club is not going to sell him. They straight up said so
pliz sir benzem and vila bt we need e good goelkeeper
C'mon Mr. Wenger get ya finger out - dont let those Manc's get Benzema - looks like the ways clear for Adeybayor to go to Milan now so lets sell him and Bendtnor and buy Benzema and David Villa + cash of course then we will be ready for next season - bring it on -
good riddance Bischoff! dont know what arsene saw in him!
