Shrewsbury have signed rookie goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou in on a one-year deal with an option for another year.
Arestidou progressed through the ranks at Blackburn but was released from Ewood Park at the end of last season.
Shrews boss Paul Simpson said: "Andreas is an English lad with a Greek father and is a former England youth international.
"He is a goalkeeper who I've seen develop from the age of about 14 through the levels at Blackburn Rovers. He is a good keeper, a good shot stopper who is a decent size with good distribution.
"With Andreas joining that is a young keeper coming in and I'm still pushing to bring in a first-team keeper in to compete with Glyn Garner.
"I have two or three options that I am following to see if I can get a deal done. They are all of equal standard and all are keepers who I think could do a very good job for us at this level."
