Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson is hoping to be fit for the start of the new Clydesdale Bank Premier League season.
The 24-year-old has been out of action since suffering a cruciate injury back in November. Having missed the majority of Rangers' double-winning campaign, it was feared he could also miss the the start of the new term. But Thomson is hoping for good news when he sees a specialist on Wednesday.
"My fitness is good," he said. "I've been in over the summer while the other boys have been on holiday and so far so good. I'm just hoping to get through the next month without any problems and hopefully see if I'm good for the start of the season."
Asked if he will be fit enough by then, he added: "I think so - that's been the plan all along. It's been just over seven months.
"I go down to see to the specialist tomorrow for a final check-up.
"Fingers crossed it will be a nice hand shake and I'll be able to move on and get back playing."
Thomson is confident he will be back to his best but admits to fearing for his career when he first sustained the injury.
"My main priority is to get back playing," he said.
"It's a worry for anyone when you get an injury. You fear you might not play again and I had that fear at the start of my injury.
"When you are a footballer and it's all you've ever done and it gets taken away from you, it's a hard thing. I've done a lot of work with the physios and I'm pretty sure I'll be knocking on the door come pre-season."

#22 LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As long as its no the last sunday in aug eh???
If he was ur bud he would let u do it on the 3rd week of August
#20 I would work for my bud,you might not believe that, but I value friendship above cash, jobs come & go but buds are for life,or maybe thats just me,look at wee novo, gave his signing on fee to dundee so he could sign for us rather than you, even though you had offered more cash,no every1 is a money grabbin hypocrite in fitba, although they are few & far between
Pt19...as a business man then or footballer...If ur best m8 came to you and said Metz old bhoy, need this work done on 1 Aug for 2 weeks for 40k and you had already got all your worked planned for Aug 1 for 2 weeks with a company that was paying 60k who would u go with
#17 Depends bud,you asking me as a fitba`fan who would I play for?? Thats easy,any1 but the tic or hibs, sorry but you couldnt pay me enough to pull a green top on(apart from a N.I one!!!) As an employee?? I work for myself so no1 could pay me what I make at the mo.
Jinky where did u get the photo of my wife?????
Mac agreed...metz....Players rule the game m8 and the thick skin managers take it on the chin now if a player moves too somewhere else for more money.....if someone asked u too come work for him for an extra £££££ would u say no ta m8.....
i hope he rushes back that will help rangers no end NOT LOL HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
fletcher would be a better buy for us stuart
Dont think you will be getting fletcher now bud & I believe west ham also in for fortune who,by all accounts has already agreed terms with hull, only length of contract is up for discussion,if he doesnt sign on at septic thats a kick in the baws for mowgli is it not????
Metz....Lawell is in Paris today discussing terms with Fortune and Phil Brown (Hull) has given Fortune 36 hours to sign or he is going for someone else....saying that I would prefer Fletcher
thomson is going to be one of those unlucky players that will have injuries problems through out his career,he is a good player though
David, they thought they would get fortune, but he would rather go to hull, fletcher is at burnley today havin a medical, they`ve already lost wee naka, venegoor of castlemilk is headin out the door, mcdonald couldnt score in a brothel, brown has a face you couldnt get tired slappin and their new management team are 3 reserve firemen from camberwick green(mowgli, penis & grunt) & they say we have problems!!! Havent they got 2 euro qualifiers up shortly??.But hey,its all rosy in paradise, not!!!!!!!!!
well said metz ive yet to hear of any players on the move to ceptic
funny how all the tic esp Stuarttalkin bout the silence at Ibrox, yet they got to post on Rangers boards?? whats up bhouys?? no news coming from septic?????
my god do we actually have a rangers fan here that shows signs of inteligence lol.
It is a bit worrying but the Gers fans just have to suck it up and go with the flow! The only main concern I really have is about the you and Wattie is known not to be keen on pitching in the youth which I've always believed is the way forward due to the current economic situation. We have some fab young players waiting for an opportunity and hopefully we will see them play a bigger role in the new season. Of course I would like to see a couple of new faces come in over the summer because you can't have the youth without that bit of experience. I just hope we get a good champions league draw that can be financially beneficial to us because its obvious we are not going to be able to do much this summer transfer wise. Get the debt under control and take it from there.
awwww poor wee thommo didny get a holiday what a shame.i thought he had enuf time of last season lol
Adrian...whats ur take on the silence at IPOX and now the stories of releasing player etc
I don't really rate him but the sooner he comes back the better!
