Trio leaving Sky Blues

Tue, 30 Jun 11:16:30 2009

Coventry have released three players at the end of their contracts.

Goalkeeper Andy Marshall, midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin and striker Michael Mifsud have all left the Ricoh Arena after manager Chris Coleman opted not to offer them new deals.

Mifsud, who ended the season on loan at Barnsley, scored 23 goals in 96 appearances for the Sky Blues, while Beuzelin moves on after just one season with the club.

Marshall made just five appearances last season after the arrival of Kieren Westwood, the last of which was as a substitute in the 4-0 defeat to Plymouth in April.

  1. mmmm sadly i predict yet another mid table Coventry.......if they are lucky! Sadly the manager is useless in building a team.......do we need to straggle another year to get a prove of that? I will always remember and thank Mifsud for the 2 goals against Man Utd .....something i cherish and believe we will not see repeating again in the near future with this team.

  2. that's a fair point - they are all experienced players and certainly would be in or around the match day squad except Miffy of course whose Sky Blues career ended a while ago in reality. But with three experienced players not kept on, Scott Dann and Robbie simpson already gone and pre-season around the corner, we are minus 5 first team squad players. RR does need to get his skates on sharpish. If a deal can be done for Dann and Simpson in this period why can't we get the players we are after - holidays is an excuse - Come on Ray get into gear !!!

  3. That makes approx 7 or 8 players who have gone and NONE come in.
R.R. is drooling over forthcoming fixtures ie:- Newcastle.Middlesborough,West Brom
Not for the football but the "folding green stuff".
He says not to panic !!!!!!! possible 3 or 4 players coming in[Nothing set in stone]
We struggled like hell last year with injuries to players to make a team !!!
This season we have even LESS players and he [RR] talks about PLAY OFF POSITIONS.
GET REAL !! the Sky Blues will be lucky not to go the same way as Southampton, Charlton, and
    Norwich next season.
