Turner out to repay faith

Accrington winger Chris Turner is hoping to repay the club after putting pen to paper on a new two-year contract on Friday.

The 18-year-old, who was a transfer target for League One sides Huddersfield and Carlisle over the summer, started his career at Burnley as a schoolboy before joining the Reds as a trainee in 2006.

Turner signed his first professional deal at the beginning of the 2008-09 campaign and went on to appear 23 times for John Coleman's side as they secured a 16th-place finish in League Two.

He said: "There were four clubs who showed an interest in me, three of them were in League One, but the main reason I chose to stay at the club was to repay Accrington for giving me my chance.

"The fans have been great with me, and I wanted to give a little back.

"I'm looking forward to the new season already, having just started pre-season on Monday. We are being put through our paces, but it will all be worth it."
