Real Madrid will not be allowed to sign Internazionale defender Maicon on the cheap, according to the Italian club's president Massimo Moratti.
Moratti claims the Spanish club have been in touch about signing the Brazilian World Cup right-back, but is poised to place a £30 million price tag on his head.
New Real manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to sign Maicon, who played in his Inter side when they won the Champions League in May.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Moratti made his intentions clear.
He said: "We do not want to sell Maicon because he is an excellent player.
"Do they expect a discount in Madrid? The Brazilian has been requested, but everyone has their own evaluation that they feel is right.
"I consider the player to be indispensable for us to aim high. People from Madrid have made contact, but we are calm and Maicon is too."
Moratti is not overly keen on any exchange deal for Maicon. "I don't think there will be any exchange deals," he said.
Moratti says it would take £32m to prise teenage forward Mario Balotelli away from the San Siro with reported interest from Arsenal in the Italy U21 player.
"Bring me €40million and Balotelli may go," said Moratti.

I think Balotelli would do well under Wenger, maybe the calming influence he needs. But I doubt Arsenal would pay that much for him!
Of course....Madrid won't buy if he is cheap. They believe that if expensive.....its the best. Get all you can from them..........they are use to overspending when they buy.
balotelli neads to learn to LISTEN to coaches and OBEY them ... follow the team TACTICS. and he simply cant do that. he thinks hes so OMG @#$% good he can do all by himself, and thats why he was warming the bench for soo long. a player whos NOT helping the team is usually not needed.
he has skills, but no knowledge to use it. IF he worked with the team he could REALLY improve.. and hes worth about 10mil if u ask me.
peace out. g00ner fan
Leroy maicon scored more in last season than birmingham's full strikeforce together,so he's worth 30mil.balotelli is new rooney, his workrate will improve with age,so he's also worth 40mil
Its OK.....anyway they seem to be able to throw their money always. They always want the best and the most expensive. Overpaying is part of their culture.
Moratti is living in dreamlnad. £30million for a defender??? £32million for Mario?? He's good but not that good.
