Orient shocked their Premier League opponents by taking a fourth-minute lead thanks to a long-range curler from Jason Demetriou.
The League One side kept their lead until half-time but Bent levelled matters in the opening minute of the second half and Aaron Lennon headed Spurs into the lead moments later.
Luka Modric netted his first goal for Tottenham to make it three in seven minutes and Bent (60, 77) rounded off a dominant half for the White Hart Lane side.
