McIlroy: Bury ideal for Twiss

Wed 30 Jul, 06:15 PM

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has reignited rumours Michael Twiss is set to leave by suggesting a move to Bury "would be ideal" for the player.Despite confirming he held talks with Twiss last week, Shakers counterpart Alan Knill moved to distance himself from any potential bid by insisting the deal "won't be going any further".

However, McIlroy has again stoked the fire by implying the 30-year-old playmaker would be perfectly suited to a move back to his hometown club.

"Michael had a difficult time of it last year and didn't play much football to be fair," McIlroy told the Lancaster Guardian.

"At this stage of his career it is something that may give him a real lift and if he does sign for Bury we wish him all the best.

"He has been a great servant to Morecambe over the years but Bury would be ideal for him."
