Wed 30 Jul, 12:30 PM

Cheltenham Town manager Keith Downing has reiterated his desire to bring in more players in time for the new League One season.Downing has been under pressure to strengthen his squad, not least from Robins chairman Paul Baker, and that increased last week when trialist striker Michael Boulding and brother Rory opted to join Bradford.

Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw with Bristol City, Downing said: "Paul Connor and Ashley Vincent need some competition up front and we're trying to do that.

"There has been some speculation about players that we're interested in and we'll continue to work hard at improving the squad.

"The pre-season games have shown that we have some good quality within the squad, but we need to strengthen it further as everyone knows."

Ashley Vincent celebrated signing his new contract by firing the Robins into a half-time lead, but Jennison Myrie-Williams levelled from the penalty spot for City. It was Cheltenham's third successive friendly draw at Whaddon Road.
