Reading manager Steve Coppell believes the club's pre-season tour of Sweden has been the ideal preparation for the new Championship campaign. The Royals won all three games in Scandinavia and Coppell is confident they are on the right track after seeing off Halmstads 3-1 on Tuesday.
Kevin Doyle set them on their way with a 72nd-minute opener, with substitute Noel Hunt also netting twice.
"I think a couple of times we've come to Sweden in the past and the games have been too easy," he told the club's official website.
"I think all three games this year have been harder than we've ever had before so I think they were the right test for us.
"After the summer we've had to endure there are issues to be dealt with and the best way to deal with those is on the field of play. I think we've gone out and done that convincingly."
