Wright confident over Millers clash

Wed 30 Jul, 02:15 PM

Lincoln chairman Steff Wright is confident City's opening fixture against Rotherham will go ahead, depsite concerns over the Millers' future.Rotherham are currently in administration, and could face expulsion from the Football League if they are unable to resolve issues surrounding the payment of creditors, and a proposed move to Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium.

Wright admits the situation has concerned the Imps, but is optimistic their season will start as scheduled.

He told the Lincolnshire Echo: "We have been in constant talks with the Football League because the events at Rotherham have left us slightly concerned as to whether the first game of the season will go ahead. However, the league still maintain they are confident that Rotherham will address their outstanding issues and the game will go ahead as planned.

"There was talk of the game being switched to Sincil Bank, which is one of the main reasons we were in talks, but the league have stressed there was no way that would happen so we now have to wait and see what happens.

"It's certainly not ideal, but it will be business as usual for travel arrangements because as far as we are concerned, unless we are told otherwise, we will be playing at the Don Valley."
