Stoke are hoping to complete a deal for Denmark international goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

The 32-year-old former Aston Villa number one has been on trial with the Potters.

He is available on a free transfer after being released by Villa at the end of last season.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis said: "The agent's coming in to speak to Tony (Scholes, chief executive) on Wednesday and hopefully we'll conclude a deal.

"I think that the signings that we've made so far, and hopefully we can get Thomas, are good signings.

"I think they'll all improve the team and we've got to get players who will come in and do that, not just be squad players."
