POSSIBLE STARTING XI:

Julian Speroni

Matthew Lawrence - Patrick McCarthy - Jose Fonte - Clint Hill

Sean Scannell - Shaun Derry - Nick Carle - Darren Ambrose

Alan Lee - Freddie Sears

BACK-UPS FROM: Victor Moses, Lee Hills, Johannes Ertl, Nathanial Clyne, Nathanial Pinney, Kieran Djilali, James Comley, Kieron Cadogan, Neil Danns, Simon Thomas, Calvin Andrew, Rui Fonte

TRANSFERS:

In: Darren Ambrose (Charlton, free), Freddie Sears (West Ham, loan)

Out: Rhoys Wiggins (Norwich, undisclosed), Paul Ifill (Wellington Phoenix, free), James Scowcroft (Leyton Orient, free), Carl Fletcher (Plymouth, free), Scott Flinders (released), John Oster (released)

POSITIVES: The club have one of the most impressive academies in the country with 12 graduates making it into the first team over the past 18 months. Neil Warnock's faith in his youth led them into the play-offs the season before last.

NEGATIVES: After the early optimism of the 2007-08 campaign, they disappointed with a lowly 15th-place finish last season. There is very little experience in the youthful squad.

VERDICT: Palace should do better than last year, but having let go experienced players such as Paul Ifill and Carl Fletcher they will fall well short of a play-off push. 13th.

  1. Shefki Kuqi doesn't even play for CP anymore, he's hardly going to be in the starting 11!
