Australias Jared Graves claimed the 2009 Four Cross World Cup title at the weekend with two races to spare, securing his fourth win in six races at the historic Mont-Sainte-Anne venue. Riding for the legendary Yeti race team, Graves has destroyed the competition in 2009, from his win in the first round in South Africa to this weekends victory on the re-worked course in Canada.
Specializeds Rafael Lucas, the 2008 World Cup and World Champion, came home in second to take his best result in what has so far proved a disappointing season for the Spaniard. He was followed by Tomas Slavik of Czechoslovakia and Swiss shredder, Roger Rinderknecht. Animal Commencals Dan Atherton took first place in the B Final, finishing fifth overall. A favourite for the title at the start of the season, a shoulder injury has hindered his chances of a first overall World Cup title.
Graves will now turn his attention to this years World Four Cross Championships, taking place in Canberra, Australia. After dominating the Canberra leg of the 2008 World Cup, he will be confident of a good result this year, and will be looking to add the World Champs title to his trophy cabinet.
