League One - Round-up: Leeds salvage point

A late Jermaine Beckford goal salvaged a point for Leeds in a 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers at Elland Road.

The west Yorkshire side went ahead thanks to a Steve Elliott own goal before Rickie Lambert levelled just after the half-hour mark.

Daryl Duffy then put Rovers ahead before half-time but Beckford claimed a point for Leeds with a shot from 12 yards.

Leicester moved to the top of the table as they won 4-0 at Cheltenham and previous leaders Oldham could only draw 2-2 with Colchester.

Lloyd Dyer gave the Foxes early lead at Whaddon Road but they had to wait until the second half to extend it.

Matt Oakley scored with a 25-yard shot in the 54th minute and Matt Fryatt converted a free-kick 15 minutes from time.

Dyer scored his second with 10 minutes to go to leave the Foxes still undefeated after four games.

Oldham dropped to second place on goal difference after they drew 2-2 with Colchester.

However, they were thankful to Deane Smalley, who equalised with two minutes to go.

The hosts took the lead shortly before half-time when Mark Yeates hit a long-range shot into the top corner and the same player doubled the lead after 63 minutes.

The Latics pulled one back immediately through Chris Taylor before Smalley's late intervention.

Carlisle remain in third after they came from behind to defeat Yeovil 4-1 with Danny Graham grabbing a hat-trick.

Yeovil went ahead through Gavin Tomlin before the hosts levelled on the stroke of half-time when Graham converted Simon Hackney's free-kick.

Graham scored twice more in the second half, including a penalty, before Gary Madine made it four in the last minute.

Brighton are still looking for their first home win of the season but have risen to fourth following their 0-0 draw with Leyton Orient.

Ishmel Demontagnac claimed a hat-trick as Walsall beat Southend 5-2 to move into fifth.

Marco Reich and an Anthony Grant own goal were the other scorers for the Saddlers with Hal Robson-Kanu and Lee Barnard on target for the Shrimpers.

Scunthorpe are in sixth after Gary Hooper's double led them to a 3-0 win over Stockport at Edgeley Park. Grant McCann got the third goal.

Two quickfire goals saw Hartlepool claim a 2-1 win at Peterborough.

Andy Monkhouse opened the scoring with just over 20 minutes to go from close range, with Richard Barker doubling the lead a minute later. George Boyd pulled one back but the visitors held on.

Simon Cox scored a last-minute penalty as Swindon edged a 2-1 win at MK Dons.

Billy Paynter put the visitors ahead and Jude Stirling pulled the hosts level before Cox converted the spot-kick awarded for Mark Wright's foul on Craig Easton.

Huddersfield sank to the bottom of the table following a 2-1 defeat by Millwall with David Unsworth missing a last-minute penalty.

Liam Dickinson put Huddersfield ahead but the Londoners drew level through a Tresor Kandol header.

Lewis Grabban then fired Millwall into the lead but the Terriers were given a lifeline when Michael Collins was fouled by Tony Craig.

Unsworth took a powerful spot-kick but it was brilliantly saved by David Forde.

Tranmere thumped Carling Cup giantkillers Northampton 4-1 despite the Cobblers going ahead after 10 minutes through Ryan Gilligan.

Bas Savage levelled before Antony Kay put Rovers ahead, and Craig Curran made it three with a close-range effort on the stroke of half-time.

Ian Moore completed the scoring in the last minute.

Hereford claimed a 2-0 win over Crewe thanks to Stephen O'Leary and Bradley Hudson-Odoi, but the result leaves both sides at the wrong end of the table.
