Di Matteo happy with point

West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo was satisfied with a point despite seeing his side concede a late equaliser to draw 2-2 with Sheffield United.

Albion looked to be heading for victory following two goals from Roman Bednar, but David Cotterill's controversial late penalty rescued a draw for the home side after Ched Evans' earlier goal.

"I thought we did well because Sheffield United are a good team, especially at home, who make your life very difficult," said Di Matteo.

"We showed resilience and twice went ahead. It was a bit disappointing to concede two goals, especially the first equaliser so soon after we scored, but we can't be too disappointed because we're still unbeaten."

Di Matteo refused to be drawn on the penalty incident which saw the home side level late on, saying: "I can't comment too much, otherwise I'll get banned, but it's very hostile place and the supporters make it difficult for referees."

The Italian admitted that there are unlikely to be any further additions to his squad before the transfer window closes, adding: "I don't think we're going to make any more signings."

  2. We now have 2 winnable home games where we should expect maximum points to keep us up there, but you never quite know with the Albion.

  3. Sheff Utd are a good side, I would have settled for a point pre kick off.
Its just when you are 2 mins away from continuing our fine away record that it hurts.
The penalty looked a bit harsh to me but they are always given.
Keep up the fine form and we will be back in the promised land and another 30 million in Jeremy's back pocket!!
I didnt think we would have this many points looking at our opening months fixtures so hey lets celebrate...top o the league for a few days!
    Boing Boing!

  4. a further 2 points dropped ... when you should be shutting up shop, it seems they are allowed to tackle hard in penalty boxes, maybe it was young enthusiasm, but it needs sorting
Some people will say yeah but you are top, well, thats till monday night, BUT those extra 2 points, one less goal against, can make a HUGE difference at the other end of the season
